Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster ahead of its official premiere at the Paris Motor Show.
The new open-top vehicle will be available in two configurations: the standard AMG GT Roadster and the spicier AMG GT C Roadster.
The latter, of course, brings a hefty dose of added oomph to the topless party. While the standard GT Roadster’s 4,0-litre biturbo V8 makes an already healthy 350 kW and 650 N.m, the GT C is worth 410 kW (that’s just 20 kW short of the AMG GT R!) and 680 N.m.
In addition, Mercedes says this range-topping GT C Roadster borrows some “technical refinements” from the AMG GT R (such as active rear axle steering and the electronically controlled rear axle locking differential). It also features wider rear wings, which create space for a wider track and wider wheels at the rear axle, and an AMG performance exhaust system.
The AMG GT Roadster accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4,0 seconds, and has a top speed of 302 km/h. The GT C Roadster, meanwhile, is three-tenths of a second faster, and runs on to 316 km/h. Both make use of seven-speed dual-clutch transmissions.
Both also employ fabric soft-tops that open and close in around eleven seconds, at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Three soft-top colours (black, red and beige) are on offer, along with eleven exterior and ten interior colours.
The three-layered fabric soft top is supported by a magnesium/steel/aluminium structure, while additional rollover protection is provided by an integrated aluminium cross-member with rollover bars.
