During previous talks with Mercedes-AMG bosses, it was quite clear that as a company they are happy and proud of their relationship with Pagani, and the products this small company produces.
I was even once told that Mercedes-Benz won’t manufacture a supercar, as Pagani is almost seen as an extension of Mercedes-Benz.
However, now it seems this could all change. The motoring website of evo magazine, reports that Mercedes’s F1 team has confirmed that we could see the unveiling of an “F1-engined hypercar” by next year. This car is said to celebrate the 50thth anniversary of AMG.
This won’t be just a concept, as the car is apparently already in its final stages of design, before the development will begin.
Based on the 1,6-litre, V6 turbo engine of the current W07 F1 race car, it will also feature an “energy-recovery system”, which could take the total output to around 746 kW.
Interestingly, evo.co.uk ends their story by stating that Mercedes-AMG declined to comment.
Nevertheless, it sure is an interesting time for hypercars, especially with the AM-RB 001 also on the horizon.
