We have previously reported on McLaren’s upcoming entry-level model, referred to as the P13. Now McLaren has confirmed that its latest sports car will be unveiled in 2015, and will be called, rather unconventionally, the Sports Series.
This model will be the third model offering from the manufacturer, followed by the 650S (watch our track test here) and the P1.
The Sports Series will feature the same base engine and configuration as that of the 650S, however, power will be tuned down from 478 kW to between 335 and 373 kW.
The chassis will also feature the carbon-fibre construction of the 650S. Little else is known at this stage, but expect McLaren to release more details in the coming weeks by following its #BlackSwanMoments hashtag on Twitter.
We expect the McLaren Sports Series to become available in South Africa at around the R2,5 million mark. This will mean it could be a direct rival for the current 911 Turbo/Turbo S as well as the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT.
