Kia has released sketches of the new, fourth-generation Rio hatchback ahead of its official unveiling at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
The Korean automaker says the new five-door B-segment hatchback’s styling was led by its design centres in Germany and California, in close collaboration with the main design centre in Namyang.
The new model features a longer front overhang and bonnet, a longer wheelbase, and a more upright C-pillar than its predecessor.
Kia says the new Rio will offer “class-leading practicality and safety technology, the latest connectivity features, and more assured and engaging ride and handling characteristics”.
The Rio is the brand’s best-selling model globally, and the new model is set to enter production towards the end of 2016.
When will it come to South Africa? Well, Kia Motors SA tells us that it is still awaiting final confirmation on when production for South Africa will commence, although it is aiming for a local introduction date in the second quarter of 2017.
