The Nissan GT-R and Nurburgring go together like jam and toast. The Japanese automaker responsible for creating the supercar-slayer has, some may say, an unhealthy obsession with beating the Europeans in their own backyard. This has lead to the creation of the Nissan GT-R N-attack edition.
The succinctly named model was created to set a record lap time at the famous German racetrack, which it did in a blistering 7 min 08,679 sec. You can watch the lap by clicking here. Until now the car has only been seen wearing camouflage. A few days ago the production-ready model made its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
Upgrades that enabled Michael Krumm to set the blistering time include new Ohlins adjustable dampers, a few front anti-roll bar and new front brake pads. A carbon-fibre bonnet and front fenders help reduce the mass a little. A new fixed rear wing generates high levels of downforce and can be set manually depending on what circuit you are attacking. Nissan also optimised the N-Attack model’s setting at other tracks such as Fuji Raceway, you can see the test sessions by clicking here.
A front limited-slip differential, carbon plate rear limited-slip differential and traction control management help to put down the power more effectively. A new ECU unleashes a few more horsepower as well.
