At last year’s Autosport International show we got to see the prototype version of this Noble M600 Speedster but at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the boutique British manufacturer decided to reveal the production model. The changes that have been made to this include a revised rear design and some adjustments to the removable roof.
The rear of the M600 Speedster has been redesigned so that it is sleeker and more efficient in providing cool air to the mid-mounted engine. The targa roof, which makes this a speedster, is said to take 30 seconds to remove, however it cannot be stowed within the car which is why a more compact canvas roof will also be packaged for emergencies.
The M600 Speedster will retain the Yamaha-Volvo-sourced biturbo 4,4-litre V8 engine producing 450 kW and 819 N.m of torque delivered to the rear wheels via a sequential automatic transmission. This will be good for a top speed of 322 km/h, but the 0-100 km/h acceleration time has not been stated. It should, however, be marginally slower than the hardtop’s time of 3,0 seconds.
Noble Managing Director Pete Boutwood says that a manual transmission will be made available depending on customer demand. Those who wish to purchase it after crash-tests take place will have to cough up £220 000 (R4 421 570).
