Following several spy pictures over the past few months, Pagani has revealed its latest hypercar, the Huayra BC.
Interestingly, BC refers to a dear friend of Horacio (the founder), Benny Caiola. Benny was also the first customer of Pagani.
This is no slightly tweaked Huayra, as Pagani confirmed that apart from the roof panel, every other section is new compared with the standard car. However, the engine updates make for alluring reading. The specially built 6,0-litre, V12 biturbo AMG engine now develops 588 kW and 1 098 N.m.
As before, weight saving has been a strong focus point and, although we’re used to seeing companies trim 50 or even 100 kg from a standard model, Pagani’s engineers lopped of 132 kg from the Huayra’s weight. The result is now a very impressive 1 218 kg.
Some of these weight saving measures can be attributed to new forged APP wheels, new titanium exhaust and updated suspension components. Pagani has even tweaked the carbon-fibre components, which are said to lighter but stronger.
Another important change is the implementation of a seven-speed automated manual transmission. Developed and manufactured by Xtrac, it is 40% lighter, while shift times have been reduced from 150 milliseconds to 75 ms compared to the dual-clutch system of the standard Huayra.
As can be seen in the pictures, the BC features new aerodynamic addenda. This has been designed in partnership with Dallara Automobili.
The BC will be equipped with specially developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. Up front, it will be 255/30 ZR20 in size, and at the rear massive 355/25 ZR21 ones will feature. No word on performance figures yet, but expect a 0-100 km/h time of around 3,0 seconds and top speed of close to 350 km/h.
The BC won’t replace the Huayra, as it’s a limited production run of only 20 units and all have been sold at $2,55 million each.
