The new Peugeot 3008 was unveiled only last month – ditching the previous model’s MPV shape for more typical SUV styling – but the French automaker has already added a new flagship to the mix: the 3008 GT.
The range-topper is powered by a 2,0-litre BlueHDi 180 turbo-diesel engine – the most potent mill in the renewed line-up – and is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission as standard.
While this particular variant has yet to be officially confirmed for the South African market, we do know that the new 3008 is scheduled to be launched locally in the first quarter of 2017.
So, what sets the new variant apart from its standard siblings? Well, as the flagship of the new crossover range, the 3008 GT model is crammed full of standard kit, including the brand’s latest i-Cockpit setup, complete with a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
Full LED headlamps (including sequential scrolling LED front indicators), a smartphone charging plate, 3D satellite navigation, and various driver assistance safety features (from active blind spot detection to lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control) are also included.
The Peugeot 3008 GT furthermore boasts wheel-arch extensions, 19-inch two-tone diamond-cut alloys, leather upholstery, a massage function for the driver, a panoramic glass roof, and a smart electric tailgate.
Peugeot says a GT Line trim level – with a slightly shorter standard specification list but similar styling to the range-topping GT – will also be available, and that this can be paired with engines lower down the range.
