Renault looks set to join the ever-popular double-cab bakkie market. The French firm’s new Alaskan Concept previews what could be a production-ready model as early as 2016.
Courtesy of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the La Régie’s double-cab contender will share its underpinnings with the forthcoming next-generation Navara and, says Renault, will offer “the best of three worlds: business, leisure and motorway driving”.
In concept form ,the Alaskan is powered by a twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, but expect a full range of engine options, together with various body styles, to be announced closer to production.
