Renault has revealed its new mid-size sedan called the Talisman. Set to replace the Laguna and Latitude, the Talisman is a spacious four-door sedan bringing a new design to Renault passenger cars.
Powering the Talisman will be TCe 150 and TCe 200 turbocharged petrol engines. The turbodiesel engines will include the dCi 110 and dCi 130 versions. The diesel engines will be offered with both a six-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. However, the petrol engines will only be offered with the automatic transmission. The top of the range turbodiesel will be the dCi 160, also connected to the manual gearbox.
Interior space will be one of the strongest features of the Talisman. Renault claims a total of 25 litres of interior storage and up to 608 litres in the generous luggage compartment. For an increase in utility space, the rear seats can be folded down in the usual 60:40 split.
Up front the Talisman will offer a 4,2-inch touchscreen connected to the infotainment system, or the 8,7-inch screen on the higher specification models.
Both the sedan and the estate will be officially shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show taking place in September. Since there are no current plans to release these cars in the UK, we strongly doubt that Renault will import them to South Africa.
