It’s no secret that Rolls-Royce is putting the finishing touches to its Cullinan SUV and next-generation Phantom for 2018. Here, we have a fresh look at these two camouflaged vehicles taking part in hot weather testing somewhere between Oudtshoorn and Mosselbaai, spotted by reader Hein Cohen.
The Cullinan is a vehicle that Rolls-Royce is very hesitant to call an SUV, instead describing it as an all-terrain, high-sided vehicle. Rolls-Royce earlier confirmed that the vehicle would undergo a global testing procedure so this sighting shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
As for the Phantom, what we do know is that it will share the same aluminium-intensive chassis underpinning the Cullinan. Both cars are also expected to use a V12 engine and while we know the Cullinan will be all-wheel drive it is not yet clear whether the next Phantom will follow suit.
An official reveal date for these two vehicles has not yet been announced and there have been no indications as to whether they will be revealed at Geneva in March.
