This is SsangYong’s SIV-2 Concept set to be revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and is intended to sit one above the crossover specialist’s Tivoli and one below the Korando which is currently being sold here. The SIV-2 is basically a continuation of the SIV-1 revealed at the 2013 Geneva Show and will fit into the light crossover market to match up against the likes of Nissan’s Qashqai and Honda’s HR-V.
The SIV-2 will be powered by a a turbocharged 1,5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack to form he 48V hybrid system. Thanks to its lightweight construction and modular architecture SsangYong also claims that will eventually be available as an electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle.
We’ll learn more about the SIV-2 at Geneva but the brand has confirmed that it will be on sale by 2018. Seeing that we only receive a fraction of SsangYong’s range it might be unlikely for this model to reach our shores.
