It’s been a while since South Korean automaker Ssangyong plastered a Musso badge to the rump of one of its new products, but now the moniker is back. Yes, this is the new Musso, which takes the form of a double-cab bakkie, and essentially replaces the Korando Sport pick-up in the United Kingdom.
Besides the change in name, the new model features an updated design and a fresh diesel engine.
The new Musso sports a revised front grille and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels, while the interior gains an updated dashboard.
The most important update to the Musso, though, is the 2,2-litre turbodiesel engine, which delivers 130 kW and 400 N.m to all four wheels via a six-speed manual or optional automatic transmission. The new engine also boasts a Euro 6 emissions rating.
Furthermore, the Musso boasts a one-ton payload and three-ton towing capacity. As before, it is fitted with a multi-link rear suspension and progressive rear coil springs.
The range-topping model will come standard with roof-rails, LED daytime running lights, leather (and heated) front seats, automatic air conditioning, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
This particular model is intended for the UK market, with a starting price of £15 995 (around R278 000). No word yet on whether the new Musso will make it to the South African market, where it would likely replace the Actyon Sport.
