Cadillac has pulled the covers off its new Escala Concept at Pebble Beach, saying the new model serves to introduce the next evolution of the brand’s design.
While the concept has little relevance to us here in South Africa, we still find it an interesting thing at which to look. Particularly since the Escala Concept is longer than a long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class, measuring 5 347 mm in length.
The four-door sedan features an interesting liftback design, too, along with 22-inch wheels and a new 4,2-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
Will it ever see production? We’ll let Johan de Nysschen, president of Global Cadillac, answer that.
“Escala is a concept car, but one based upon the unrelenting rise of our product substance,” said de Nysschen.
“Depending on the development of market segment for large luxury sedans, Escala is a potential addition to our existing product plan.”
