Volkswagen has released a handful of sketches of its “revolutionary” new electric vehicle ahead of the concept’s official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show next week.
Just a week ago, the Wolfsburg automaker revealed teaser images of what it calls an “iconic design study”, promising that the new vehicle will “signal the Volkswagen brand’s entry into a new era”.
But the new sketches reveal a little more, giving us an idea of the new vehicle’s general dimensions. The sketches show a five-door, stubby-nosed hatchback that employs sliding rear portals.
The concept is expected to preview a production vehicle that will serve as the first Volkswagen to enter the market running on the brand’s new modular electrification platform (MEB). This production car is slated for release in 2019.
VW earlier promised that this design study would be “as revolutionary as the Beetle was seven decades ago”.
