The revised Volkswagen Touareg has been unveiled at the Beijing Show. Highlights include a newly designed front and rear end, a new engine, and a batch of high-tech standard features.
The fresh front-end gets bi-xenon headlights as standard across the range, a redesigned grille, four transverse chrome fins and a new bumper. The rear also features a new bumper, which now houses the rear fog lights. For a more distinguished look, there are new wheel designs available, as are additional paint options. Inside, there are innovative design accents as well as a range of updated technology such as an automatic post-collision braking system, and, depending on the model, mobile online services such as Google Earth, Google Street View and online traffic information.
The overseas model line-up for the refreshed Touareg consists of V6 and V8 TDI all-wheel-drive versions, V6 and V8 turbopetrols and a hybrid version with a V6 TSI and electric motor. In Europe, the TDI units produce between 150 and 250 kW, while the hybrid has a total system output of 279 kW. Fuel consumption ranges from 6,6 to 7,2 litres/100 km. The V6 units are mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all come with stop/start as standard.
The local launch of the updated Touareg is planned for early 2015.
