Porsche CEO Oliver Blume has revealed that the German brand is contemplating building coupé versions of its Cayenne and Macan crossovers.
Speaking to Automotive News, Blume said that Porsche would make a decision at some point in 2018 on whether it should introduce coupé-style versions of its two crossovers.
“There might be opportunities for the future,” Blume told the US publication.
“But it always depends on the volume behind it. We analyse each segment, and where we will have an opportunity, we will take the opportunity,” he explained. The report added that a coupé version of the Cayenne would likely arrive first, as early as 2019.
Both BMW (with its X6 and X4) and Mercedes-Benz (with its GLE Coupé and GLC Coupé) have taken full advantage of the apparent SUV-coupé craze, with the former also recently unveiling its new, SA-bound X2.
