You may well have heard of Boba Motoring. Well, this German tuner has revealed a few details – and some intriguing footage – of the latest in a long line of Golf-based creations: a Volkswagen Golf Mk2 churning out more than 900 kW.
Using a 2,0-litre 16-valve engine turbocharged to within an inch of its life, the lightweight Golf makes a claimed 1 094 N.m and employs VW’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. And that apparently makes this 1989 family hatchback faster off the line than a Bugatti Veyron. We kid you not.
According to the video, the hyper-Golf sees off the 0-100 km/h sprint in a mind-blowing 2,53 seconds, and covers the quarter-mile in just 8,69 seconds. Top speed is reportedly in excess of 350 km/h…
