Hyundai has taken the wraps off its new Kona Iron Man Edition, introducing the limited-run version of its little crossover on the Marvel stand at the San Diego Comic-Con 2018.
The Korean automaker says the Iron Man Edition features exterior and interior design elements that “closely resemble and give a nod to the dynamic Iron Man suit”.
The special model is finished in matte grey and Iron Man red, and boasts a unique front-lighting signature, including custom daytime running lights that the brand says mimic “the facemask and eye shape” of Tony Stark’s famous suit.
Other additions include an Iron Man mask motif on the roof, a V-shaped bonnet element (plus more Iron Man mask badging), “Stark Industries” decals on the rear doors, Iron Man-engravings on the headlamps, custom 18-inch alloy wheels (with Iron Man centre caps, naturally) and a dark chrome grille.
Inside, Tony Stark’s (fictional?) signature adorns the instrument panel alongside an Iron Man shift lever knob, a special head-up display and a centre stack featuring Iron Man graphics.
“Hyundai’s ongoing collaboration with Marvel is a great way for us to become a part of what people are interested in and engage with a highly passionate fan base,” said Minsoo Kim, vice president of the marketing division at.
“Our relationship is more than just product placement as we aim to create custom experiences that resonate with the Marvel audience. The Kona Iron Man Edition is a perfect example of blending our two worlds together into one special vehicle that we hope will excite fans of both brands all around the globe.”
In June 2018, Hyundai Automotive South Africa confirmed that it would add the Kona crossover to its local line-up later in 2018. No word yet on whether this special edition forms part of its plans.
