Rumours of a four-door Toyota FT86 have been rife for some time now and the facebook page of the Dubai International Motor Show has confirmed that Middle Eastern showgoers will be the first to set eyes on the Toyota 86 Sedan.
It seems that this model will be put into production ahead of the drop-top version, whic may not see the light of day as we have already reported. The four-door variant is far more likely given Toyota’s success in this segment. In all likelihood the wheelbase of the four-door derivative will be stretched to make more room for rear occupants.
We can expect the booted 86 to employ the same 2,0-litre flat-four motor, that churns out 147 kW, to be used in this car when it eventually becomes a production reality either late in 2014 or early in 2015. Good news for enthusiastic drivers is that it will retain the Coupe’s rear-wheel drive layout. Rumour has it that a hybrid model could also be a part of the line-up.
