Toyota has introduced a host of tweaks and changes to its successful Etios range. Both the saloon and hatchback benefit from these upgrades.
Visually, there is a new grille design and revised wing mirrors and door handles, both of which are body-coloured. At the back, both the hatchback and the saloon receive refreshed taillamps. Inside, the seats of the top-of-the-range Xs model gain additional cushioning, height adjustment on the driver’s seat and adjustable headrests. This high-spec model also gets an auto-up function for the driver’s side electric window.
The instrument cluster on the Xi and Xs Etios get an ice-blue backlight, while the Xs also gains a new audio system as standard. The Xi does not come with an audio system, but Toyota now includes pre-wiring for door- and instrument panel speakers.
Other highlights in the Xs model include new ventilation controls with a chrome-effect finish. The gear lever also gets a slight aesthetic tweak.
Toyota has placed emphasis on reducing NVH by opting for hydraulic engine mounts in place of the previous rubber mounts, a modified silencer and by fine-tuning the damper settings.
Things remain unchanged under the bonnet with a 1,5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that has a maximum power output of 66 kW and 132 N.m of torque. This unit comes mated with a five-speed manual gearbox.
