While in Germany on assignment, CAR features writer Wilhelm Lutjeharms caught a glimpse of the upcoming BMW 8 Series coupé near the Nürburgring, and managed to snap the images you see here.
The photographs (which include a look inside the camouflaged 8 Series prototype) were taken close to the Bavarian brand’s dedicated BMW M Test Centre at the Nürburgring, after the test mules spent some time lapping the famous circuit at what our man on the ground described as speeds “well over 200 km/h”.
The new fresh flagship coupé is scheduled to make its world premiere in mid-June at Le Mans, to coincide with the race debut of the M8 GTE.
BMW has already confirmed that the M850i xDrive variant of the 8 Series coupé will employ a twin-turbocharged, 4,4-litre V8 worth 390 kW and 750 N.m, with the latter available from as low as 1 800 r/min.
