The hands-down winner of The Weirdest Automotive Promotional Video goes to Audi for their commercial showing an Audi R8 giving birth to an Audi RS3 Sportback. Seriously.

It’s a sci-fi horror take on your normal car ad that shows a first-generation R8 on a mechanical gurney having its rear bumper removed by production-line robots.

Amid a cacophony of a wailing V10 engine and various body panels being stretched, out pops a rather visceral RS3 Sportback complete with various hose/umbilical chords.

“Every now and then a film comes along that needs to be viewed on the best possible screen, with the best possible sound,” says Audi, “This is one of them.”
Right. Shudder.
The new RS3 Sportback will be launched in South Africa in October this year. Powered by Ingolstadt’s legendary five cylinder motor, it will boast no less than 270 kW and 465 N.m of torque making it the most powerful car in its segment. Thanks to the firm’s famed all-wheel drive system and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission the hatch can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,3 seconds. Top speed can be set to 280 km/h upon request.
Helping the RS3 to stand out from the crowd is a 25 mm lower ride height and 19-inch alloys. And in a first for this class of car, Audi will offer the option of carbon-ceramic brake discs.
