Still disappointed that Volkswagen has apparently canned the Golf R400? Well, this European tuner thinks its has the answer.
O.CT Tuning has turned its attention to the all-wheel drive VW Golf R, going to work on the hot hatchback’s 2,0-litre engine (and seemingly leaving its styling – bar those alloy wheels – largely untouched).
The result? Well, in the company’s own somewhat strange words, a “muscled beast”.
Yes, the Volkswagen Group’s familiar turbocharged four-pot now churns out as much as 331 kW and 550 N.m, up from the stock 221 kW (in Europe, anyway; here in South Africa it makes 206 kW) and 380 N.m.
Unfortunately, O.CT Tuning has yet to reveal performance figures, but there’s little doubt it’ll be exceptionally quick, considering the standard DSG-equipped model hits 100 km/h from standstill in around 5,0 seconds.
