Year to date, Volkswagen AG has broken a number of global, as well as internal sales records.
Within the first quarter of 2018, VW delivered 1 525 300 vehicles, accounting for a 5,9% increase over the same period last year. The brand also saw increased interest in European, as well as North and South American markets.
A new monthly record for March alone saw Volkswagen deliver 584 700 vehicles, 190 000 of which were sold in Europe, a 3,4% increase over the same month in 2017.
Despite a hangover from the emissions scandal, the brand regained confidence in North America with a 5,2% increase in sales with 50 500 units sold, some 9 700 Tiguan derivatives accounting for a strong March 2018 sales figure.
China too has been a strong market in terms of Volkswagen’s recent growth. Indeed, a gain of 6,0% over the corresponding period last year has been achieved specifically via sales of models like Jetta, Lavida, Santana and the Teramont (Atlas).
