The Zimbabwe Motor Show will be opening its doors to all petrol heads from May 12 with appearances from major manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Jaguar-Land Rover. The oldies also get a look-in as the Vintage Car Club shows off some locally sourced classics from the 1930s.
Set to be held on a 10-hectare exhibition site at the Old Georgian’s Sports Club out side Harare, the 2012 Zimbabwe Motor Show and will form a showpiece for the country’s rejuvinated interest in all things automotive. The Show, which includes a number of aftermarket specialists such as Sony and JBL as well as a display of classic cars from the 1930s courtesy of The Vintage Car Club, will run from 09:00 to 19:00 on May 12 and from 09:00 – 17:00 on May 13.
Among the automotive brands represented at this year’s event will be: BMW, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar-Land Rover, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Chery, GWM, Volkswagen, Mercedes Trucks, and Scania.
Zimbabwe’s official Jaguar-Land Rover dealer, Premier Auto Services, will be showing off such models as the Discovery, Range Rover Vogue Autobiography, Range Rover Sport and the Evoque. Jaguar’s latest model line-up will also feature on Premier’s stand.
Mercedes-Benz, which surprised last year’s show-goers with the CL63, will be presenting the 2012 CLS and C63 AMG Coupe to the gathered crowds.
The Polo, new Jetta and Amarok will be the highlights of the Volkswagen stand, while Hyundai, whose recent return to the market has sparked considerable interest, will also be on hand.
Quest Motor Corporation will also show off the latest iterations of the 3 Series and 5 Series models, which are gaining popularity in Zimbabwe.
Tickets will be available solely at the event and will cost USD$5 for adults and USD$1 for children under the age of 12.
