The wraps have been lifted off the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé ahead of the car’s official unveiling at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
Underpinned by the same MRA modular medium car platform as its four-door stablemate, the shapely newcomer measures 95 mm longer and 40 mm wider than the outgoing model, as well as boasting a wheelbase that’s been stretched by 80 mm.
As with the saloon, the C-Class Coupé is studded with S-Class Coupé-inspired styling cues – especially aft of the B-pillar. Up front, the headlamps have undergone mild, model-specific revisions while the tail terminates in strong haunches over the rear wheels. Although it sports a rakishly-swept roofline and compact glasshouse, the Coupé retains solid B-pillars in the interests of safety and structural rigidity.
Much of the interior has been lifted almost wholesale from the saloon, but the centre console mouldings appear to have been sculpted in a more curvaceous, occupant-hugging form.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé will bristle with such safety & assistance systems as adaptive cruise control (up to 200 km/h), brake assist, active lane keeping assist, active parking assist and a 360-degree camera.
The local engine line-up will comprise:
C-Class Coupé C 200 – 135 kW/300 N.m
C-Class Coupé C 220 d – 125 kW/400 N.m
C-Class Coupé C 250 d – 150 kW/500 N.m
C-Class Coupé C 300 – 180 kW/370 N.m
C-Class Coupé C63 AMG – 350 kW/650 N.m
C-Class Coupé C 63 AMG S – 375 kW/700 N.m
Mercedes has also mentioned adding a C450 AMG sport model equipped with a tuned version of its 3,0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine developing 270 kW and 520 N.m.
Local order books for the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé open in September with the official SA launch taking place in the first quarter of 2016.
