Named after the popular Vail ski resort in Colorado, the Q3 Vail concept showcases Audi’s intentions for a sportier version of its upcoming Q3 compact SUV.
Stylistically, the Vail concept draws upon a number of winter sports influences – the most obvious being the roof-mounted ski rack with integrated LED lights and a dockable Thermos flask in the cabin that can heat or cool beverages. The exterior highlights include matte grey body cladding, 20-inch alloy wheels, a dual-exhaust rear valance with diffuser and Energy Red paintwork.
Thermos aside, the cabin features Leather/cloth heated seats, ribbed floor mats and aluminium trim highlights. On the tech front, the Vail’s info-tainment system features a yaw reading module and the rear load bay has been fitted with a heated carpet upon which skiers can warm their derrières as they don their skis.
Power is provided by Audi’s turbocharged 5-cylinder 2,5-litre petrol engine. Coupled with a 7-speed S-tronic transmission feeding power to all four corners via a Quattro all-wheel drive system, this unit will reportedly propel the Vail from 0-100 km/h in 5,5 seconds and on to a top speed of 262 km/h.
