Audi has unveiled its S8 Plus model – which is tailor-made for owners not satisfied with the 382 kW/650 N.m offered by the standard car.
Utilising a new ECU, modified exhaust valves and optimised turbocharger units, the Plus’ twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 engine delivers a staggering 445 kW, with 700 N.m of torque on tap and an additional 50 N.m of which is available on overboost.
The S8 Plus, equipped with an eight-speed tiptronic transmission, is claimed to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 3,8 seconds, before, with the speed limiter (optionally) removed, going on to a top speed of 305 km/h.
The S8 Plus’ Quattro all-wheel drive system features a sports differential while the standard adaptive air suspension and dynamic steering have been specifically tuned to complement the powerful new flagship model.
“We have further sharpened our large sport sedan,” says Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi’s board member for technical development. “The new Audi S8 Plus has a substantial gain in power and defines the pinnacle of sporty performance in the segment. That is why ‘Plus’ appears in its name.”
The new Plus model gains darkened taillamps and an exclusive new matte silver paint finish. The front grille surround is painted in gloss black with the honeycomb mesh and the side air-inlets finished in matte black.
Contrasting red stitching on full-black leather and brushed aluminum and piano black trimming highlight the car’s cabin.
