Despite rumours that the Auto Africa Expo 2002 would no longer be held at Nasrec Exhibition Centre following the liquidation of Nasrec’s holding company, CARtoday.com has been told that the show will remain at its original venue.
The fourth Expo takes place from October 21-27 2002. The biennial show will host all the major industry sectors as separate entities under one umbrella, each with a dedicated hall.
Auto Africa is officially endorsed by both the passenger car and truck divisions of the National Association of Automotive Manufacturers of South Africa, the component manufacturers and the Retail Motor Industry organisation.
The industry’s most important meeting, the CAR conference, presented by CAR magazine and CARtoday.com, will once again form part of the Expo. The conference is now recognised as the definitive forum for discussing the way ahead for South Africa’s motor industry.
It takes place on October 24 2002 and local and international business dealers will focus on passenger car sales. This will include future trends as well as the types and changes in competition.
The CAR conference will also look at how the market will look in the future, what the customer wants and how markets and dealers should respond to the challenges.
“Though cars are the glamour part of the show and the major appeal to the general public, the exhibition is a motor industry showcase with a serious business side to it,” said director of the Auto Africa Expo 2002, Pula Dippenaar. “An increasing amount of business has been generated at previous events and we will continue to pursue every possible avenue to further grow business and trade opportunities for the local industry.”
The expo will also include other industry-specific conferences, industry achievement awards, seminars and workshops. The previous event included extensive outdoor displays and activities where visitors could inspect off-road and leisure vehicles. Attractions included an advanced driving course and demonstrations of road driving techniques.
“We have no doubt that the 2002 event will again serve to stimulate interest in the industry as a whole and lead to increased business opportunities,” said Dippenaar.
Details of speakers, exhibits and events for both the Expo and CAR conference will be published in both CARtoday.com and CAR magazine nearer the time.
