A fresh report out of Spain suggests that BMW is considering expanding its new X2 range with cabriolet and three-door derivatives.
According to Motor.es, the Munich-based brand is studying the “commercial viability” of introducing cabrio and three-door variants, which the report says were kept in mind since the very start of the five-door X2’s development.
The Spanish publication suggests that both new models are scheduled to arrive before 2020, with the three-door expected to wear the X2 Sport badge. This would give the five-door X2 a little more than a year to establish itself in the market.
The proposed X2 cabriolet, meanwhile, would find itself in a niche segment doing battle with the Range Rover Evoque Convertible.
