BMW has filed a series of trademarks that suggest it may soon unleash a range of even hotter M-badged models.
According to Auto Guide, the Munich-based automaker has filed applications with the World Intellectual Property Organisation, seeking to trademark the monikers “M1 CS” through to “M8 CS”.
Reports suggest that these CS variants would sit above the current M models in much the same way as the AMG “S” derivatives top Affalterbach’s performance line-up.
The CS models would each likely benefit from a relatively small power increase, along with a stringent weight-savings programme (including the liberal use of carbon-fibre and other lightweight materials).
There have, of course, already been rumours (and supporting spy shots) that BMW is developing hardcore M2 and M4 variants (and Spain already has the limited edition M4 Competition Sport pictured above). And if the latest speculation is to be believed, these may just turn out to be the first of the new CS variants…
