By now, we’re used to certain Chinese automakers playing copycat, unashamedly mimicking the styling of other popular vehicles with their production cars. But this? This is new…
WM Motor, a new Chinese electric vehicle start-up founded by former Volvo executive Freeman Shen, this week released renderings of some of the cars it hopes to build in the coming years. One such rendering depicted a proposed SUV.
However, you’ll no doubt notice that the images above seem rather similar. Yes, as pointed out by the folks over at Electrek, the renderings of this SUV are clearly based on the official press images of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S.
A number of items in the images – from the side-mirrors to the wheels – have been carried over. Even the background and shadows are virtually unaltered.
Cheeky? We think so…
So, can you work out whether the second and third renderings below are in fact photoshopped versions of other existing vehicles?
[UPDATE: WM Motor has released a statement saying it did not create these renderings: “Any alleged concept design images mentioned over the internet are NOT related to WM Motor to any extent”.]
