Fans of French MPVs will be happy to note that this week sees the launch of a new model from Citroen, the all-new C4 Picasso.
Unique styling, from those slim, LED daytime running lights and slender headlights, immediately help set the Picasso apart from other MPVs. Designer Fréderic Soubirou has put his mark on the C4 Picasso in the form of a C shape side signature in chrome.
Two derivatives of the MPV family debuted today – the Seduction and Intensive – both powered by a 1,6-litre e-HDi 115 turbodiesel engine developing 85 kW of power and 270 N.m of torque. In both models drive it sent to the front axle via a six-speed manual transmission.
Citroen claims a top speed of 189 km/h and a benchmark sprint time of 11,8 seconds. Fuel economy is quoted at an incredibly low 4,0 litres/100 km for the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of only 105 g/km.
The Citroën designers kept the interior look and feel minimalist, with a clean looking facia with few knobs or controls, relying on multi-function controls on the chunky steering wheel and a multi-purpose 7-inch touch-screen interface in the centre of the dashboard.
The touch screen interface has seven buttons that control all in-car functions including satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control, and an audio system with six speakers featuring USB connectivity and Bluetooth with media streaming.
Prices:
Seduction – R325 900
Intensive – R345 900
Both Citroën C4 Picasso models come with a 3-year/100 000 km warranty, 5-year/100 000 km service plan and 3-year 24-hour roadside assistance package included in the price.
