The Citroen DS4 facelift has been revealed ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month. The reveal of this 5-door coupe is accompanied by a crossover variant, namely the DS4 Crossback.
In our test of the DS4 last year we displayed some conflict as to whether the DS4 was a hatchback or a crossover because of its very quirky design. Not much has changed with this facelift. While the body remains the same, the accents around the front have been smoothed and simplified. The most notable change is made to the new DS Wings grille where the Citroen badge has been lifted and replaced with the DS letters. The LEDs have also been removed from the spotlights while the bumper is fitted with a chrome strip. The headlamps have also been upgraded to Citroen’s LED Vision Headlights. No changes have been made to the rear.
The DS4 Crossback has been given slight detailing in order to provide it with an adventurous feel. It’s been raised by an extra 30 mm and added with roof racks in order to make it a more capable vehicle. Black alloy wheels and wheel arches further promote the roughed image.
The interior of the DS4 remains the same, but some features have been added. CarPlay, the mobile integration that works with your smartphone, will be offered in the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. With this, all of the buttons below the screen have now been removed making for a cleaner dash. A reversing camera, keyless entry, stop-start ignition and blind spot monitoring are features that will also be available in the facelift.
The new DS4 will have a variation of three petrol and three diesel engines. Citroen’s new THP 210 S&S 6-Speed manual, as seen in the DS5, will now also be available in this model. The new powerplant offers 155 kW and 285 N.m of torque. The DS4 Crossback will only have two engine options; a 96 kW petrol engine and an 88 kW diesel engine. The DS4 facelift is expected to arrive in South Africa early next year.
