Women, apparently, require a special kind of car. Yes, Cosmopolitan magazine has partnered with Spanish automaker SEAT to design a vehicle especially for the fairer sex, billing it as both “exciting to drive and easy to park”.
Condescendingly much?
The vehicle in question is called the “SEAT Mii by Cosmopolitan”. Its conception evidently took 18 months, with input from the magazine’s global creative team, regional editors and readers. Yes, a year-and-a-half…
The vehicle will be available (thankfully not in SA) in two colours: “Violetto” (that’s purple, to you and me) and “Candy White”. And since all women love shiny things (we’re being sarcastic here, for the record), there are plenty of “champagne-toned bismuth details” inside and out, from the side-mirror caps to the air-vents and even the interior stitching.
Then there are the headlamps, which Cosmopolitan says have an “eyeliner shape, emphasised in the same way as make-up emphasises the eye”. Bless them. And the two-tone alloy wheels? Well, somewhat predictably, they’re “jewelled”. Aluminium strips in the front footwells, meanwhile, mirror the rear badge, which reads: “CosmopolitanLovesMii”.
Perhaps surprisingly, there are no “heel-protecting carpets” on offer, which is more than we can say for the Daihatsu Terios Diva from a few years back.
Anyway, we’ll leave you with this gem of a quote from the official press material:
“The Mii by Cosmopolitan is a car built for and co-created by women who want the time they spend behind the wheel to be as engaging and exciting as every other facet of their busy, fun, fearless lives.”
As long as none of those facets involves tricky parking manoeuvres, apparently…
