There’s no denying that the Ford Fiesta ST is a cracking little hot hatch. But, as is so often the case, there have been calls for a model boasting a little more oomph, with rumours of an all-wheel drive Fiesta RS still running rife.
Will the RS badge eventually find its way onto the rump of a Fiesta? Well, even if there are indeed plans, they’ll in all likelihood have to wait for the next generation of the supermini to debut. In the meantime, the folks over at Mountune appear to be keen to scratch your RS itch, revealing something it calls the “MR265 upgrade kit”.
The tuner says the new package – which slots in above a handful of other Fiesta kits it offers – maximises the performance potential of the 1,6-litre EcoBoost engine, and adds a new turbocharger, high-flow rear intake pipework, silicone hoses, a larger intercooler, a cat-back exhaust and, of course, a spot of engine tuning.
The result? Peak outputs climb from the standard 134 kW and 240 N.m (with 290 N.m on overboost) to 194 kW and 370 N.m, which sees the 0-100 km/h time plummet from 6,9 seconds to just 5,7 seconds. That’s an entire second quicker than the ST200 available in Europe.
A worthy substitute? You tell us…
