Hennessey Venom GT Spyder officially the world’s fastest roofless car [w/video]

It should be no secret by now that the Hennessey Venom GT is a bewilderingly fast car with it constantly nipping at the heels of the Bugatti Veyron for the past five years. Hennessey has been in the business for the past 25 years and have created high speed products such as the Venom Viper 650R and the VelociRaptor SUV. To celebrate its 25 year anniversary it decided to put its prized creation to the test.

The actual record was set on the 25th of March by Ford Performance Racing School director Brian Smith who was able to achieve a speed of 257 mph (413 km/h). Despite being slower than the car’s claimed speed it was still enough to beat the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Vitesse’s speed of 409 km/h.

This power is derived from a 7,0-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 1 082 kW and 1 745 N.m of torque to the rear wheels which helps it reach 0-100 km/h in just 2,4 seconds. To celebrate this victory, Hennessey has announced that it will be releasing three special world record editions of its Venom GT Spyder which will cost roughly R19 000 000 each.
