We’ve already had an early sample of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport (check out our July issue for a full test of the most powerful GTI ever).
But now the German automaker has officially revealed local pricing for the Clubsport model, which was conceived to celebrate the Golf GTI badge’s 40th anniversary.
So, how much will one set you back? Well, the VW Golf GTI Clubsport – which is available exclusively with a DSG transmission – comes in at R540 200. That’s R58 700 more than the standard DSG-equipped GTI, and R38 700 more than the Performance Pack model.
To refresh your memory, the Clubsport makes 195 kW (26kW more than the Performance Pack version), with an overboost function adding nearly 10% (up to 213kW). During this ten-second overboost period, peak torque rises from 350 N.m to 380 N.m.
The zero to 100 km/h dash takes a claimed 5,9 seconds, while top speed sits at 249 km/h.
