BMW has released a short video on Facebook teasing an intriguing new “Remote View 3D” feature that is set to be available on the next-generation 5 Series…
The feature seems to allow the 5 Series owner to remotely check out the vehicle’s surroundings using a smartphone app. We’re guessing the system makes use of the various cameras built into the vehicle, essentially creating a bird’s-eye view of the car just like the brand’s existing “3D Surround View” parking feature.
Indeed, the video posted on Facebook show a bird’s-eye view of the new G30 generation 5 Series (which is labelled as a “540i”) on an iPhone screen. Being a teaser video, the footage reveals little else about the system (nor the upcoming vehicle). BMW did, however, put out a short press release, but it is little more than the one-liner that is repeated in the video caption.
“Always know what is happening around your vehicle. The next generation of the BMW 5 Series with the BMW Connected feature ‘Remote View 3D’. Coming soon…” the release reads.
