A 1973 Citroën DS Super 5, believed to be the finest example in the world, will be auctioned at the start of September at Blenheim Palace in the United Kingdom.
This particular example found its first owner before it even left the showroom floor back in the 1970s, with the CEO of the supplying dealership being the only registered owner of the car.
According to Silverstone Auctions, this vehicle is one of the most decorated examples on the classic Citroën circuit anywhere in the world.
The right-hand drive DS is presented in “Blanc Meije” paintwork with original “Red Targa” upholstery. After a full restoration, the owner entered it into various concours-level shows and competitions.
The result? It now boasts a number of display cabinets, bulging with more than 200 awards in total. The one-owner-from-new car even had a television career, making appearances on both Top Gear and Fifth Gear.
The award-winning 1973 Citroën DS Super 5 is expected to fetch between £75 000 and £90 000 (between R1,40-million and R1,68-million), with the buyer also scoring reams of documentation, full photographic restoration folders and examples of at least 150 magazine features.
