Kia Motors South Africa has introduced a new five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, which it says is applicable to all models in its range.
Yes, that means everything from the Picanto to the Grand Sedona benefits from the update, as do the Korean brand’s light commercial offerings.
The new plan came in effect on new vehicles purchased from the start of June 2016.
Kia Motors SA says the only change to the previous five-year/150 000 km warranty is the removal of the overall mileage restriction. It adds that there are “no additional inclusions, provisions, limitations or exclusions”.
However, it must be noted that certain items – such as clutch friction plates and brake pads – are covered by a shorter one-year/20 000 km warranty (exactly as they were under the previous 150 000 km plan).
The brand expects the new plan to be of particular interest to drivers (and companies) who “easily exceed 30 000 km a year”. Second-hand buyers will also benefit from the knowledge that the first owner’s mileage will not impact on their warranty cover.
At the same time, Kia Motors SA has also upgraded its standard roadside assistance programme from three years (unlimited mileage) to five years (unlimited mileage).
