Austrian motorcycle expert KTM wowed the automotive industry with the track-ready but street-legal X-Bow, the company’s first car, in 2008. Now it’s ready to introduce a version called the GT4.
To be unveiled sometime next year, the X-Bow GT4 will, according to the company and technical partner and racing team Reiter Engineering, boast a “completely redesigned exterior” that will be “state-of-the-art.” What we can see from the teaser image is that the GT4’s nose is completely different from the first X-Bow with what appears to be a carbon fibre front splitter, and the two-seater will also feature an enclosed cockpit and a large fixed rear wing.
Technical details are sparse, but KTM’s confirmed that the X-Bow GT4 will employ a 2,0-litre TFSI engine from Audi just as before – except that this time it’ll produce 238 kW. Torque will be sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission. The company hopes it’ll be eligible to compete in the SRO GT4 European Series and Pirelli World Challenge GT-S class.
“Since the new car is based on the KTM X-Bow, the customer is going to get a racing car that has now been tested on the world’s racing circuits for six years,” says Reiter Engineering owner, Hans Reiter.
“When you reflect on what the customer is being offered here in terms of the most modern racing technology, together with a very impressive safety concept, then you can really speak about it being exceptionally good value for money,” Reiter added.
