It looks as if the Jaguar – Land Rover group are at it again. Not too long ago we saw the return of six Lightweight E-Type models which sold for close to R20 million a pop and very recently Jaguar announced that it would be resurrecting nine D-Type based XJSS models for close to the same amount. Now, Land Rover has decided to give its most notable creation a 25 car reproduction.
The Series 1 will be a complete overhaul that will match the original factory condition that one would have seen from 1948. Unlike the aforementioned Jaguars, this Land Rover will be a restoration project rather than a complete construction. The 25 models were hand picked by the team of experts and will make use of authentic Land Rover Classic Parts to keep them as original as possible.
The 25 lucky customers are expected to provide input as the team restores their Series 1. Colours will consist of Bronze Green, Dove Grey, Light Green, Poppy Red, and RAF Blue. Being a Series 1 that is as close to original as can be the complete list of options may be limited.
Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director Tim Hannig stated that “The launch of the Reborn initiative represents a fantastic opportunity for customers to own a valuable and collectable automotive icon. Reborn showcases Land Rover Classic’s expertise in restoring and maintaining our loyal customers’ prized Land Rovers.”
