Barely just two years old, the BMW M3 has already been through it first enhancements to the exterior. No, it’s not a facelift, but this exclusive model does highlight the most visually appealing aspects of the car’s exterior and interior.Available in three non-metallic exterior colours (Alpine White, Black, Dakar Yellow), and metallic Monte Carlo Blue, the M3 Edition Model also features a BMW Individual high-gloss satin chrome package. Whereas bonnet vents and side mirror caps are finished in black, the signature kidney grille, fender “gills” and four exhaust tailpipes boast dark eloxy-plated chrome.
To further accentuate the exterior changes, Edition Models come standard with the specially-designed 19-inch light-alloy M-series wheels – finished in black. Customers may also opt for a classic silver or contrasting white finish. The M3 Edition Models also boast a revised suspension system, now 10 mm lower.
Interior treatment includes the centre console surface, centre armrest and door panel armrests coated in white on Alpine White and black models. Carbon structure leather is standard on interior trim with contrasting white seams. Black Novillo leather adorns the seats with contrasting seams and vertical trim stripes on the backrest and front leg cushion. In the Dakar Yellow and Monte Carlo Blue cars, these interior colours are matched accordingly.
The M3 Edition Models employ the same 4,0-litre V8 as used by any normal E92 M3, that produces 309 kW at 8 300 r/min and 400 N.m of torque 3 900 r/min. Mated with the firm’s double-clutch M-DCT seven-speed transmission, BMW claims the M3 Edition will sprint to 100 km/h from zero in 4,6 seconds.
A contrasting feature you don’t have to pay for on the Edition Model is the carbon fibre roof, which will do nicely with Alpine White bodywork. All the other options that apply to new M3s are also available, including Electric Damper Control and M Drive menu for driver configuration of the suspension and drivetrain settings.
In order to keep exclusivity up, the M3 Edition Model will be limited to a six-month production run – starting in July this year.
