More than R50 million will be invested in the 2002 Auto Africa Expo and more than 300 exhibitors are to participate in the event, to be held at the Nasrec Exhibition Centre in October.
Exhibition manager Pula Dippenaar told that this kind of investment from the motor industry helped make the Expo the largest of its kind in Africa.
"South Africa and Auto Africa Expo 2002 serve as a gateway to the continent for many automotive manufacturers, and we expect this increased involvement to grow in the years ahead," she said.
She said she expected the Expo to attract 25 000 or more trade visitors from South Africa and more than 500 from 40 other countries.
Foreign companies would also be among the exhibitors, including firms from Germany, the United Kingdom and France.
The biennial Auto Africa takes place from October 22 to 27, with the CAR and CARtoday.com conference to be held on October 22.
The CAR Conference is an important part of the show, and has achieved a reputation as the definitive forum for discussing the way ahead for South Africa’s motor industry. The focus for 2002 will be on passenger car sales. The conference will once again be chaired by Brand Pretorius, chief executive of McCarthy Holdings.
CARtoday.com and CAR magazine will bring you in-depth coverage of the expo and conference in October.
