In making use of the same lightweight, ultra-strong carbon-fibre MonoCell “tub” as the MP4-12C Coupe, McLaren has not had to add any reinforcements or weight-adding strengthening to the body of the 12C Spider. Importantly, this means that the stunning new drop-top boasts the same performance figures and handling prowess as its fixed-roof sibling. The two-piece roof can be operated at speeds of up to 30 km/h and folds neatly away under a body-coloured tonneau cover within 17 seconds.
