Earlier this month, we reported on East Coast Defender’s Project Viper, which uses Chevrolet’s LS3 V8. This crazy Defender comes with an automatic transmission and loads of adventuring equipment. Now, the Florida-based tuner has revealed this: Project Honey Badger.
The newcomer is based on the short wheelbase Land Rover Defender and also uses the Corvette’s 320 kW LS3 V8. But, in this case, it’s mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and boasts a limited-slip differential. The result is a pretty impressive 0-100 km/h time of less than 6,0 seconds.
Visually, this project is rather simple. The body is finished in colour called “Porsche Dunkelolive Metallic” and is accompanied by aesthetics such as LED headlamps, checkered plate finishes, custom canvas and a full roll-cage. All of this is topped off with a set of 18-inch Sawtooth wheels with BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 tyres.
The interior of the Honey Badger has also come in for some special treatment. The seats are upholstered in Ivory leather Corbeau with black accent stitching and accompanied by a Momo steering wheel. There’s also a Kenwood infotainment system, which controls the rear-facing camera and JBL speaker system.
It’s seemingly available only in the United States, but ordering Project Honey Badger will set you back $159 000 (about R2 050 000)…
