Last month, Mazda released a teaser image of the new CX-5. And now the second-generation version of the compact SUV has been fully revealed, ahead of its debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Japanese automaker bills it as a “completely redesigned” model, claiming to have “refined virtually every aspect of the all-new CX-5”.
Mazda says the new CX-5 was engineered to deliver “responsive performance” for the driver, while also “prioritising passenger comfort for a pleasant ride in a remarkably quiet and finely crafted cabin”.
The second-gen model will be available with two petrol engines – a 2,0- and 2,5-litre – and a 2,2-litre diesel. No word yet on whether the outputs of these mills have changed.
The new model now also features the brand’s “G-Vectoring Control” system, which is already available in the Mazda3. Additional highlights include a head-up display and a remote power tailgate.
The new Mazda CX-5 is scheduled to go on sale in February in Japan, before rolling out to other markets around the world (including South Africa by mid-2017).
