Mercedes-Benz has provided the closest look yet at its upcoming four-door Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé, releasing a handful of images showing the new model testing in a wind tunnel.
Set to be revealed in full at the Geneva International Motor Show in March, the new AMG GT Coupé pictured here (check out earlier teaser shots here) is, of course, still wearing full camouflage. But the new photographs at least give us a better idea of what the sports sedan (let’s face it, despite the word “coupé” forming part of its name, this new model is actually a swoopy, four-door sedan) will look like.
Affalterbach has already made it clear that a CLS63 derivative is not on the cards, with this new GT Coupé essentially taking its place.
It thus seems highly likely that Mercedes-AMG will employ its twin-turbo, 4,0-litre V8 in the new GT Coupé, tuned to deliver somewhere in the region of 450 kW, while various reports also suggest that a more powerful hybrid version (the GT Concept used an electric motor, after all) will eventually top the range.
Other models set to join the GT Coupé in Geneva include the new-generation A-Class, the latest Mercedes-AMG G63, the revised Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, the facelifted C-Class sedan and the V6 version of the X-Class (badged the X350d).
